SCENE 2 - Lizbeth's Device at the coffee shop.

  1. Lizbeth shoved $10k across the table to Mike, quietly saying: 'I've heard your one of the best in the business. I need you to find my magic amulet. This is all the money that my father would give me.'

  1. Somewhat amused, Mike queried: 'Magic amulet ? I only deal with real things.' Mike's voice trailed off a bit. 'You're not a kook are you ?' Mike didn’t like people he classified as kooks; they often didn’t pay. That wad of cash was a bad sign. It was a lot of dough just to find an amulet; a hint that finding the amulet might not be as straightforward as the usual look-and-find.

  1. Lizbeth responded ignoring his reference to ‘kooks’: 'It's really a complex, custom made medical device designed to stabilize my DNA. She paused: 'It could be potentially dangerous to anybody but myself.' She continued on: 'A genius designed it for me, without it, I'll turn into something resembling a giant cat. I really need it back.'

  1. 'No way.' Mike whistled. 'That isn't for real is it ? How would it be dangerous to somebody else ?' Mike was somewhat surprised that such a device could exist and fired out rapidly the two questions without waiting for a response.

  1. Mike curiosity was getting the better of him.

  1. Lizbeth replied: 'According to the genius, it sends out a signal telling the cells in my body to behave correctly and to not cause trouble. Apparently if one is exposed to the signal for too long a time, one could literally turn into my identical twin sister.

  1. Mike commented: 'I guess that's a good reason to get it back.' He continued onwards: ' In order to find the device, I need to find out everything about it. For example what it could be used for, and why someone would steal it.

  1. Lizbeth stated angrily, her voice loudening somewhat: 'It got stolen because it's two million dollars worth of almost solid gold. Some jerk saw something shiny, and decided to swipe it.' Lizbeth was somewhat upset at the seemingly stupid question as to why someone would steal it, but it was really mainly her offensive feelings at the theft of the device that drove her voice.

  1. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to yell.” Lizbeth apologized. “If you want to know more about it, you'll have to talk to the guy who made it, here's his name.'

  1. Lizbeth wrote the name down on a piece of paper and handed it to Mike.
